Former Court Judge – 9-Year-Old Girls Ready For Marriage

#rapevictim

When we are young as nine-years-old, things we know required is going to school, follow the rules set by our parents and obliged to do chores assigned to us. The rest of the day would be like playing but not all of us have the privilege of doing so.

Our mind is not yet developed during these years even until seventeen. Our parents still guide us in our decision making. There is no way a girl or even a boy should be ready at this age to get married. This is what most of us think.

However, there are some people who will argue on this as they believed to be different with their case. Shabudin Yahaya told the Parliament in Kuala Lumpur that girls age starts at nine are physically and spiritually ready for marriage. His argument is that their bodies are now fully developed same as 18 years old women.and stated that the people who performed statutory rape are able to marry the victim without any punishment.

According to the wiki – Datuk Shabudin Yahaya (Shabudin bin Yahaya) is a Malaysian politician. He is the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the seat of Tasek Gelugor. He is also a former Syariah Court judge. He is notable as he opposes an amendment to be added to the Sexual Offences Against Children Bill 2017.

He also added that rape victims should marry their abusers to solve the increasing number of rape crimes. On his argument, he stated that the people who performed statutory rape are able to marry the victim without any punishment.

Teo Nie Ching, another MP, opposed with Mr Shabudin. She emphasized that the marriage becomes problematic when victims unite with their abusers.

One of her cases, a 14-year-old with a disability married her allegedly 35-year-old rapist. He then raped his 11-year-old sister in law while his wife was shooting them.

‘Why would you want to give away your daughter to someone who had ruined your child’s life? It’s unacceptable,’ MP Takyuddin Hassan told reporters in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
