Parents work hard for their children to have a better future. We know it is hard but it is their dream to see their children graduate in college.
Our parents would say that this is the only thing you can inherit from me when I die. This is the reason why most netizens were inspired by the story of this girl who graduated as Magna Cum Laude.
FYI:”Cum laude” is a Latin term that translates to “with honour” in English. “Magna cum laude” means “with great honour,”

Regine Canete Villamejor is born in a family of fisherfolks her parents Raul and Mary Jane Villamejor from Argao, Southern Cebu.
Villamejor family’s source of living is selling fish. His father is a fisherman and her mother is a fish vendor. She recalled that when she was young she needs to wake up early in the morning to sell fish her father caught. They would sell this fishes to public market and mostly in the neighbourhood.

In life, things were never easy especially for Villamejor’s Family, their financial is just for them to survive their daily life. Mary Jane even saw that her parents were arguing about money during the time she was still studying in college. She took Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Commer Major in Communication and Marketing at the University of San Jose- Recoletos Cebu City.
Despite all the challenges, it didn’t hinder Mary Jane in reaching for her dreams. She was never ashamed that she grew in a family of fisherfolks. She’s proud that their income is hard-earned money. In fact, her friends and classmates never looked down on her.
One of the things she could remember is that her father feels really tired day before but needs to wake up early to work so that she and her siblings could get to school.

She even remembered that before his father would shed tears seeing us sleeping just beside each other. Our house only had a small space and it will be hard for you to move.
All this what she experienced it inspired Regine to finish her college degree with flying colours.
If I didn’t go through that, wearing the toga will not be worth it. We should not give up. Poverty is not a hindrance to achieving our dream. – Regine
She added that you should never forget where you came from. No matter how many achievements you’ll have, humble yourselves and keep your feet on the ground. I will always be a proud daughter of a Fisherman and a Fish Vendor.
